Yoga, Meditation, Ayurveda – A Great Promise for the World

Looking at the world from a health-related perspective, we would say it is characterized by stress, depression, incurable diseases, increasing dementia patients, alarming rise in the health-related expenses and constantly rising health insurance costs, not to mention life-style diseases, diseases due to highly processed foods. Also to mention are the diseases due to side-effects of medicines and medical mistakes plus of course pollution-related complications and lung problems.

Despite a fast  developing medical technology and more advanced understanding of the physiological functioning, we have to say that in the past 4 to 5 decades the situation hasn´t really improved. Healthcare spendings, health insurance spendings etc. are still on the rise. On the other hand, we can see that life-expectancy is rising. People in their 70s and 80s are now more like those in their 60s and 70s from 50 years ago. Modern science is on the brink to understand ageing and hopes to stop or even reverse it soon. For instance the Chinese and Russian Presidents quite recently expressed - talking privately to each other - that soon people will live for 150 years or more.

Similar State: Healthcare, Political Area, Military Area

If we reflect for a moment then we would say, that the health area is similar to the political area, to the military area - similar to the overall situation of mankind.

Let´s take military. Newer and more sophisticated weapons are coming up with latest technologies, but conflicts and wars are also rising. These new weapons haven’t ended conflicts, rather seem to increase them. Newer and newer weapons are not the solution to conflicts and wars emerging; they are not the cure. Similar is the situation on the political ground, on the environmental ground etc. People constantly elect new parties to govern their countries; but the problems remain the same. People are demanded to change their habits and basic technologies, but pollution and environmental problems remain the same. Seems the cure for humankind´s problems has to come from another direction.

BRICS, SCO and Traditional Medicine

Back to humankind´s health-related problems. There is a constantly growing area, that possibly will bring the solution. While the G7 countries mostly press on their modern medicine to dominate in the world, BRICS, SCO and other large international organizations, that represent already more than half of the world´s population, have a different strategy. There is no BRCIS or SCO summit in which not cooperation on Traditional Medicine and its incorporation into the national healthcare systems is part of the final agreement.

Meditation, Yoga, Ayurveda during WHO’s 2nd Global Summit on Traditional Medicine

Second WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine

Who would have thought 10 years ago that WHO dedicates an entire session to meditation, like during the recent 2nd Global Summit on Traditional Medicine. Alone the title “Impact of meditation on health – restoring balance from individual to social and ecological well-being” sounds like Maharishi Mahesh Yogi´s promise to the world: enlightenment for the individual and Heaven on Earth for the whole world. Seems that Maharishi´s vision and technologies are on the rise - with better results.

Impact of Meditation on Health

WHO says that meditation helps restoring balance in individual life and well-being of the entire society. What a step humankind has taken, that even WHO gives such statements.

Just read the titles of the plenary sessions of this recent global summit (December 2025):

  • Restoring balance: The science and practice of health and well-being
  • Traditional Medicine and the continuum of knowledge in health
  • Traditional Medicine knowledge – balancing access and benefit-sharing
  • Healthy ecosystems, healthy futures through Traditional Medicine
  • Traditional Medicine – bringing balance to governance, equity and resources.

No western-based health ministry in the world would dare to promise ”to restore balance”, “healthy ecosystems and healthy futures” or “bringing balance to governance, equity and resources”. But WHO phrases it exactly like that, promising the world balance in individual life, societal life and environment. Herein we see the hope for a better future. Not that WHO is the origin of this transformation; it reflects what is actually happening already in the world.

Maharishi Started Spiritual Regeneration of the World 75 Years Back

Let´s go a bit back in time. End of 1950s, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi started several world tours to bring spiritual regeneration and to make meditation, Yoga and Vedic knowledge popular all over the globe. And mankind accepted his call and invitation. Now, just 60-70 years later, around 15% of the population practise Yoga and around 10% meditation; Ayurveda is present all over the globe, growing quickly.

More Vedic technologies are destined to grow at a similar rate: Vedic astrology (Jyotish), Vedic architecture (Vastu), Vedic Yagyas, Vedic music (Gandharva), Vedic dance. One enlightened man - Maharishi - set the whole world in the direction of a better future, based on Vedic knowledge!

Global Ayurveda Market

The Global Ayurveda Market

The global Ayurveda market was valued in 2025 at 18.5 billion Euro and is projected to reach 110 billion Euro by 2035!

The global Yoga Market was valued 130 billion Euro in 2025 and is projected to grow to 260 billion Euro by 2035!

The global meditation market was valued 7.5 billion Euro in 2025 and is expected to reach 36 billion by 2035!

Ayurveda´s Spread in the World Over the Past 50 Years

Back to our original area of consideration: health. As WHO already recognizes meditation and Yoga as essential for balance in life, so also Ayurveda, the ancient system of perfect health. It was also Maharishi who took it upon himself to spread Ayurveda globally – that was back in the late 70s, beginning 1980s. At that time Ayurveda was barely known in India. Now – just 40 to 50 years later – Ayurveda is found all over the world. No country, no bigger city that doesn´t have an Ayurveda center or practitioner. India has signed treaties with over 100 nations re. cooperation in Ayurveda. Over 25 countries have officially recognized Ayurveda as part of their healthcare system. It has become a fashion, a habit amongst the rich and influential people to go for Panchakarma or to have regular Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis and Ayurvedic check-up of their physiological balance and health. In almost all movies, serials, TV productions – at least one of the main actors is doing meditation or Yoga or goes for Ayurveda. It has definitely become part of the culture and main stream.

Next Step: Governments to Take up Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda

What is a major next step to be taken: the governments have to acknowledge that the population wants meditation, Yoga, Ayurveda. Governments have to include meditation and Yoga into their school systems. Students should also get basic knowledge of Ayurveda, should know what is Vata, Pitta and Kapha, health as balance of the Doshas. Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis is such a simple tool for everyone and every mother to check the balance and to know simple guidelines to restore it.

It is now up to the governments to accept the trend towards Meditation, Yoga, Ayurveda and other Vedic fields of knowledge and include it into their healthcare system and into their school systems.

Politicians are famous for promising so much during their election campaigns; time to address the 15% of the population that wants meditation, Yoga and Ayurveda. Politicians try to cater for much smaller fractions of the population, so why not for these 15%; especially when the 15% are destined to grow more and more. In each country, political parties should include meditation, Yoga and Ayurveda into their agenda and - when in power - incorporate it accordingly.

The potential is much, much bigger than they can actually imagine. Take meditation, Transcendental Meditation: a proven way to develop higher states of consciousness – Cosmic Consciousness, God Consciousness, Unity Consciousness, Brahman Consciousness. Its advanced programme of TM –Siddhis will allow people to fly through the air, know everything they want to know, manifest things, travel with the speed of the mind and much more. Offer that to the students in the country and not only intellectual knowledge – they will love it. Who wants artificial intelligence if this is the potential of human intelligence? Develop human intelligence fully – no need to pour in billions and trillions in developing artificial intelligence. Better to pour in – one day – all that money into the development of the full human potential.

Look at the scientific studies that show that group meditation and group yogic flying brings balance to the nation and world. Even WHO says meditation “restores balance from individual to social and ecological well-being”. Group meditation achieves that much more easy and faster. Therefore have entire schools and colleges learn and practise meditation in large group. Governments can just implement meditation, now that WHO calls it a means to restore balance – individually and socially. Nothing less than balanced citizens, balanced society will be the result.

It´s that simple. Nations, not only be a member of WHO – follow the advice that WHO is giving. Implement meditation, Yoga and Ayurveda (Traditional Medicine) to create balance in individual and societal and environmental life.

Ayurveda exists since creation exists, so it´s time-proven and fulfils all requirements we might want from a perfect healthcare system. It does not really name diseases, like our modern system nor does it classify health problems as incurable. It knows what is balance and different stages of imbalance in the physiology that show up as health problems. Only restoring balance is necessary to restore health. Also here, governments should simply follow what WHO choose as motto for its recent 2nd Global Summit on Traditional Medicine “Restoring balance: The science and practice of health and well-being”.

But of course Ayurveda is much more, it knows how to extend life-span, to detoxify the physiology, to improve intelligence and memory. And that is only the surface; it offers much more incredible things, that we can nowadays only dream of. If governments only spend a fraction of what they spend now for healthcare and research to do research in Ayurveda, many jewels will come up, that will change life and society for even much, much better.

Societal changes take time, yes, but the acceptance of meditation, Yoga and Ayurveda has already happened over 50 to 60, 70 years. That WHO´s wing on Traditional Medicine picks up now, shows that governments worldwide can also pick up on it and introduce them officially into their societies for everyone´s benefit. Maharishi had laid out programmes that allow every government to implement these programmes successfully and create a better nation.
