Abstract

LEQUANG and colleagues, Departement d'Anesthesia-Reanimation, CHU Hopital Nord, Amiens France write that they use auriculotherapy based upon traditional Chinese cartography, for pain relief following laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal). The technique consists of palpating and pricking well defined ear points corresponding to the surgical site. Pain relief is quickly obtained and compares favourably with minor parenteral (intervenous) analgaesics.
