College Vision Problems Vision problems profoundly impact the learning experience. Accordingly, it is vital that educational institutions provide the right resources and accommodations for affected students so that they are well-positioned for success, as well as for better eye health over the long term. What Are Some Common Vision Problems Among College Students? Although vision problems are most commonly associated with aging and with specific types of eye infections, the unique environment at a college or university can also cause and exacerbate certain vision conditions. Being a post-secondary student means being exposed to specific pressures known to worsen eye strain and also increase the possibility of infection. Omega 3 for Dry Eyes, Blepharitis and MGD with Dr. Alice Epitropoulos Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid that has been a topic of conversation in the dry eye space for the last few years. Many eye care practitioners recognize the importance of taking omega-3s, but there has recently been a study (the DREAM study) stating that there was no benefit to taking it. However, most of the peer reviewed research out there does indicate a benefit to taking omega-3s, not only for dry eye disease but also for cardiovascular health and improvement of cholesterol, triglycerides, joints and other muscular disorders. Recently, the American Heart Association came out with a report showing that the risk of cardiovascular events was reduced by about 25% when taking omega-3s.

We break down the statistics to look at trends across regions, causes, gender and age and also look at the financial implications of sight loss.

Career Guide for Individuals with Disabilities People with disabilities are the largest minority group in the world. In the U.S. alone, there are 61 million individuals with disabilities, accounting for nearly one in four U.S. adults. However, only 19.3% of people with disabilities are employed, compared to 66.3% of people without disabilities. If people with disabilities make up such a significant portion of the population, why is there such a large employment gap? With the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990, America has championed the rights of individuals with disabilities to provide reasonable accommodations and accessibility across the nation.
