About BCIM

The British College of Integrative Medicine was founded by the Integrative Health Trust charity in 2009 in order to provide first class education in IM by creating Britain's first degree course in the subject.

In 2011 BCIM established Health Creation Training and Academic Study of Personal and Organisational Well-being as part of Bath Spa University's Professional Masters Programme (PMP) Mentoring and Coaching Award.

Both of these courses are now open for enrolment:

Diploma in the Study of Integrative Medicine

The course gives doctors, nurses and other graduate healthcare professionals an opportunity to make an academically rigorous and scientifically objective study of the principles and practice of IM in the light of current research, knowledge and models of excellence. It enables  students to critically appraise the potential value of IM in the care and treatment of patients and in the prevention fo illness, whilst also supporting the personal and professional development of students to integrate learning into their own self-care and practice.

 The Diploma is studied part-time over two years and consists of five 19 week modules; the first four with a week attendance in Bath and the final module has an elective study week at an IM centre of excellence in the UK or abroad. Home study of approximately six hours a week is supported by an online learning environment and telephone tutorials, and students also commit to their own personal development and self-care under the supervision of a professional mentor.

The course is currently undergoing accreditation by the University of Viadrina in Germany.

BCIM can also offer flexible learning for those who cannot commit to the full Diploma programme. Individual modules can be studied (assessed or un-assessed) or the taught element of each module can be attended as a lecture series. Health Creation training

BCIM has teamed up with Health Creation Training and Bath Spa University to offer a Professional Masters Programme Mentoring and Coaching Award in Personal and Organisational Wellbeing.

 There is a growing body of evidence that people with chronic, acute and life threatening conditions benefit physically, mentally, socially and spiritually from lifestyle programmes, support and self-help strategies, both in terms of quality of living and dying, symptom relief, the ability to cope with illness or the treatments they are facing, and also survival. This includes those with cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, asthma, arthritis and many other life-threatening and chronic illnesses.

Health Creation Mentors and Consultants are health and well-being coaches trained to provide safely and effectively the Health Creation Mentor and Consultancy Services. They support, encourage and guide individuals and organisations to promote health and well-being and prevent illness. The Health Creation Mentor works with individuals, from whatever starting point, on a transformational journey to achieve the optimum level of health and well-being that is possible for them.
