Government by the People – No Authoritarian Leadership, Please!

A group of people, be it a tribe, a nation or the world population, can be governed in several ways. In order to live together harmoniously it requires a set of agreed rules of conduct, while at the same time these rules should remain open to change, if and when the circumstances are such that the group decides it is time to change some of the rules. You may already have the impression that this is not a simple thing to organise.

The Missing Science in Medicine
There are several ways of doing this, but as an individual it doesn't feel comfortable to me being told what to do and being forced to submit to someone else's will, so I am looking for ways, other than being bullied into agreeing to something that I don't consider being good for me personally.
In what is called 'the Western world', which we are part of, democracy is hailed as the society structure that allows 'government by the people'. And indeed, that sounds like something I might be interested in. Let's explore how such a government is structured and who the people are that are being governed by this structure. Let's explore the historical background to the system. How, in fact, we got to where we are now, in terms of people government.
It is only exploring the structure that is in place that we can identify possible ways of improving it.
