Abstract: The system of Kundalini yoga includes a large number of meditation techniques, many of which have been found to be specific for treating psychiatric disorders. The paper focuses on a technique specific for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which has been validated in two published clinical trials. This protocol also includes techniques that are useful for a wide range of anxiety disorders, as well as a technique for learning to manage fear, one for soothing an angry mind, one for mental challenges, and one for turning negative thoughts into positive ones.
In addition, a number of other disorder-specific meditation techniques (for phobias, addictive disorders, major depression, dyslexia, grief, and insomnia) are included in order to help bring these powerful therapeutic tools to the attention of the mental health community.

Abstract: Yoga is increasingly popular as a means of exercise and fitness training. However it needs to be recognized more by health care professionals for a complement to conventional medical care rather than just a trendy leisure activity. Over the last 10 years, research studies have shown that the practice of Hatha Yoga improves strength and flexibility and may help control such parameters as blood pressure, respiration and heart rate, and metabolic rates. A summary of medically substantiated information about the health benefits of Yoga for healthy people and also for people with musculoskeletal or cardiac problems is provided.
