Ayurvedic Treatment Protocols for Acute and Chronic Disease
combining Western and Ayurvedic Herbs.

An advanced course for students and practitioners from Ayurvedic and Western herbal traditions
to be held in 2014
with Anne McIntyre and Vijay Murthy

  Ayurvedic

UK’s renowned medical herbalist Anne McIntyre and New Zealand’s Ayurvedic doctor and naturopath Dr. Vijay Murthy bring their decades of clinical experience and teachings together in offering a unique protocol-based approach to health care using herbs.

Their course offers an exceptional opportunity to explore in depth the clinical application of traditional Ayurveda and Western Herbal Medicine in the treatment of acute and chronic health conditions encountered in clinical practice. With a unique clinical focus, the course provides a step-by-step approach to using Ayurvedic health assessments and designing clinical strategies. We will train participants in applying Ayurveda’s approach to functional medicine, mapping ‘Samprapthi’.

Participants will learn how to integrate Ayurvedic and Western use of herbs, including choosing specific groups of herbs, combining herbs, making decisions on dosage and the form in which they are prescribed. You will learn to identify and use herbs from garden and hedgerow, forage for wild herbs and foods. We will also discuss and practice making herbal preparations.

The course will incorporate foraging for wild herbs and identifying cultivated herbs in the garden, clinical case studies, hands-on workshops, discussions and guided patient consultations along with well-designed theory sessions. It will include treatment protocols for commonly encountered conditions including hormonal, metabolic, inflammatory, degenerative and auto-immune conditions.

The course is intended to run as a series of weekends and will take place at Anne’s home in the Cotswolds, (approximately one and half hours from London), using her dispensary and herb garden with over 150 medicinal herbs laid out in a spiral, representing the journey through life from birth to paradise.

If you would like to refine your theoretical, clinical and dispensing skills combining Ayurvedic medicine and Western herbs, please register your interest by emailing annemcintyre64@gmail.com
